Interval Run App Reviews

Nice and Easy Custom Interval Building

Works great for beginning running intervals on my iPod Touch. Voice is loud enough except when blasting techno podcasts (Podrunner). Would benefit from additional 30 second increments between 90 second entry and at least 10 minute entry. It presently has 30 sec, 1 min, 90 sec, 2, 3, 4, 5 min entry possibilities but then jumps to 10, 15, 20, 30 and 1 hour entry settings only.

Great!

For someone who doesnt know much about exercising and wants to try running this is great! I feel great after my runs and it works me hard enough to feel it. I like how you can make your own schedules and track when you did your last run.

Runner Lite

I bought this app as a complete beginner at running, and it has really really helped me! Intervals are so much better than trying to run for 10 minutes on your first attempt (that first iPhone-less workout almost killed me), and its great not to have to keep an eye on your watch to know when to switch. I took some advice from a friend whos an experienced runner, and she told me the pre-set intervals are not ideal as the walking intervals are too long (apparently 1 minute is plenty), but it was easy enough to customise my own runs. At least, it was before the upgrade to version 3.0.0 of the iPhone software, but I hear theyre working on getting the customisation working again. I built up from 7.5 minutes total to 35, and then upgraded to the full version of the app as I wanted to be able to track distance and speed as well as time. But the Lite version is a good initial investment. On days when my husband borrows my iPhone, I refuse to go running without Runner!

I hate running...

but this makes it bearable. Last week I actually woke up early to run! Works well - just read the directions. Love the mid-way point announcement. Would like to hear a "final session" announcement.

Very good

This does exactly what it claims to do, nothing more, and does it very well. The definition of a good app. That being said, there are three things that I would really, really like to see. 1. More available slots for custom interval sets, and/or the ability to hide the default sets. 2. The ability to make a copy of a set to make modifications 3. A choice of voices. Unfortunately, Im starting to curse the default voice-over guy so it would be nice to chose a different voice. Perhaps a choice of another male voice and two female voices to keep it interesting? I havent checked out the Runner app because I have an iPod Touch, not an iPhone.

Awsome App!

Ive been on this program for 4 weeks now. Ive lost weight doing what I hate: exercise! This app makes you feel great running. You start off gently with 1 min runs with 1 1/2 min walks. its easy to stay motivated because its not TOTAL torture (dont get me wrong; running and exercise is torture) but the app guides you to add running mins at a easy pace. I havent felt burned out during the running portion of the workouts. This app is GREAT/PERFECT/SUPER for anyone who wants to learn to run or hasnt run in a while.

Great app!

I really like this app! It keeps me running. I would rather see the counter count down for each interval instead of showing total time. If this would be updated I will give 5 stars.

I would rate this higher....

But I cannot seem to find an option to allow my warm up and cool down to be separated from my intervals. I do not want to repeat the warm up and cook down throughout my run... Please allow them to be separated somehow, and I will rate higher.

Simple. Effective.

This app works great for me and the workout tracker helps me stay motivated to finish my couch to 5K.

Great App!

Lets me run Couch to 5K while listening to my own music. The prompts are good an unobtrusive. Worth a couple bucks for sure! Im pumped to get through the whole program.

Awesome!

Ive been doing intervals running for a few weeks now but I just found out about this app... Ill have to sell the watch I bought... Just what Ive been looking for!

Decent

I like it but I wish it combined GPS tracking as well. How am I supposed to know if Ive made 5 or 8k ?

App still useless

Shuts down after 2 minutes with the screen locked. Who leaves their phone unlocked when running?! Useless as a running app. Dont waste your time. They never even responded to my email regarding this.

Doesn’t work

Sadly this app doesn’t work, at least on an iPhone 4. It skips intervals and tells you to start running 2 seconds into your 30 second or 1 minute walk…frustrating!

Once great, now worthless.

This app used to be great. I can design my own intervals and save them. But it no longer works. Unless they fix the problems it basically worthless. Im now having to find/buy a new app.

Great for Galloway Walk-Run-Walk(tm) method

Wow I spent about $10 trying to find a good interval timer that worked in the background with my other apps. This works flawlessly! Im so excited!

Awesome App!!!

Great app! I like that you can program the intervals and use your own music!!

Best Interval App

I have tried several interval apps and I like this one the best. It comes with preinstalled programs and is fully programable. What I like the best is the progress bar with the different colors. Makes a quick visual on where you are and what is left. The only improvement this app needs is a step timer. There is a total work out timer, but a separate one for each step would Be a nice addition.

Perfect for Galloway Method

If you are a using a run/walk method for distance running, such as Galloway, Bingham/Hadfield, then this is the app to buy. Its functionally perfect for this use. The UI is a little clunky and non-standard, but no big deal. It is easy to setup and gives good audio cues for switching intervals. I have been using it to train for a half marathon and will use it on race day.

I was psyched when i saw this app...I

But the app just wont start up on my phone! Ive sent an email for support, but ive yet to receive a response. I just keeps crashing!
